Simple cracking does not automatically place a sidewalk into non-compliance. Horizontal and/or vertical displacement, which does or could cause a safety issue, takes priority. When officers are advised of such a violation, they will mark the area of the sidewalk that needs to be repaired or replaced with pink paint. They will then provide formal notice via U.S. mail to the property owner. Owners have 90 days to make the needed repairs or provide the case officer with information which justifies a time extension. (The criteria used to determine if a sidewalk is in violation can be found on the Notice of Violation you were sent.) Note: In most cases, the Sidewalk Replacement Grant Program, which is managed and distributed by Code Enforcement, can provide assistance to residential property owners. This grant may reimburse a reasonable amount (currently $5 per square foot) of cost related to the replacement of any residential sidewalk which has been placed under notice by Code Enforcement. Up to 100 percent of the replacement cost may be available to home owners that are considered qualified property owners, as defined in Chapter 17-162 of the Code of Ordinances, and certified as such by Adult and Tenant Services. The funds contained in the grant are allocated each fiscal year and are only available until the budgeted allocation is exhausted. Fourth quarter fees of $180 are due on Thursday, October 1st.
There is a mail slot located in the front door of the clubhouse so that payments can be dropped off after hours. Credit card payments are accepted via our website www.palomarhills.com by clicking on the “Pay Dues” icon. Payments must be received by October 15th to avoid a late fee. Residents of The Greens Neighborhood are invited to the 26th Annual Chili Fest that is scheduled for
Saturday, October 17 at 5:30 p.m. on Peppertree Court. Whip up your favorite chili and all the hottest fixins to share with your friends and neighbors. Grills will be provided for warming the chili. Please bring your own liquid refreshments and a dessert or dish to share. Don’t forget the kids, chairs, and a warm sweater! Come and visit with your neighbors before it gets too cold and everyone hides out inside!! Any questions, please call Jeff Heath at 859/229-5798. Masks are recommended! Palomar's unique and handsome mailboxes are a true signature of our neighborhood, but many are dented, scratched, rusted, faded - and NOT in compliance.
If your mailbox is looking worn or has been touched up one time too many, please add this project to your "to-do" list this fall. Information on how to refurbish your mailbox to comply with neighborhood standards is on the website under Homeowners Responsibilities. Let's keep Palomar Hills looking great!
