Swim Team Information
Requirements to Participate:
All registrations and fees must be received & paid. A $25.00 late fee will be added to all registrations received after that date. Fees include a swim team t-shirt, end of season award and all meet and event fees for each swimmer.
Volunteer Requirements
The Palomar swim team is a parent-run organization depending strictly on parent volunteers to make things run smoothly. Therefore, we require all families to work three (3) meets during the regular season and one (1) shift for the conference championship meet. There is only one set of sign-up sheets that will be with the Volunteer Coordinator at all times. You will need to contact the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule your times to work. If you are unable to fulfill a work commitment, you are responsible for finding a replacement. It takes a lot of volunteers to run a meet and just one person not showing up to work can ruin the flow of a meet. So, please know when you are working and show up promptly for the meet so that the meet can run smoothly. Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator if you encounter problems. Signing up for your work shifts early in the season will ensure that you get the job and date that works best for you. For anyone who chooses to opt out of their volunteer commitment, you must pay a $150 "opt out" fee.Weekly Newsletter
A weekly newsletter will be sent each Sunday via e-mail. The newsletter will provide information regarding the swim meet scheduled for the upcoming week, including who will be volunteering at the meet. The newsletter will also include information from the president and coaches and will keep you up to date on what is happening with the swim team. It is our main form of communication, so please try to read it weekly! A copy of the newsletter will also be posted on the bulletin board. Please remember to give us your e-mail in your registration information so that you can be added to the group e-mail list. We will only use your e-mail to send newsletters and information that is important to Palomar swimming. It will not be used for any other purpose.

Inclement Weather
Always assume that there will be swim practice or a meet unless otherwise notified. In the event of inclement weather during practice, the coach may choose to do dry land exercises in lieu of swimming. If a meet is canceled due to bad weather, we will make every attempt to contact you via e-mail or telephone prior to the meet. If the weather is questionable on the day of a meet and you have not been notified of a cancellation, please show up to the pool ready to swim. Sometimes the meets cannot be called until the last minute. If a meet is canceled due to weather, the meet will be made up. Please check the bulletin board and e-mail for information regarding a makeup meet. If your swimmer was signed out for the canceled meet and is available to swim in the makeup meet, please inform the coach so that your swimmer can be added to the swimming line-up. If you were scheduled to work in a meet that was canceled due to weather, you will still be expected to volunteer in the makeup meet. If you encounter problems fulfilling your volunteer requirements due to a makeup meet, please contact the volunteer coordinator.Sign Out Sheets
Swimmers who are unable to swim in a scheduled meet must inform the coach and sign out by the Monday before that meet. Sign out sheets will be located on the bulletin board. Also, swimmers are not to leave a meet early without informing their coach.Home Meet Rules
All swimmers must stay in the assigned area during the meet so that you can be found for your races. Piranha swimmers are NOT allowed to swim in the adult pool or play near the water falls near the adult pool and concession area. For the safety of everyone, please do not engage in horse play, running or unruly conduct.Team Banquet
Everyone is encouraged but not required to attend. Traditionally, the banquet has been a time for the swimmers and their families to unwind and enjoy time together without having practice or a meet to distract us! We will enjoy a catered meal, have time to swim and relax in the pool. Most importantly, the kids will receive their team and conference awards. We are asking everyone to take lots of photographs throughout the season so that they may be included in a slide show. More information on the banquet will come in the weekly newsletters.
